Prof. Hsieh honored with the NTU Outstanding Scholar Award, 2024/08-2027/07 (臺大拔萃學者).

We are proud to share that Associate Professor I-Yun Lisa Hsieh has been named an NTU Outstanding Scholar (臺大拔萃學者) for August 2024 through July 2027, awarded as the Tsung Cho-Chang Outstanding Scholar (宗倬章先生拔萃學者) — and, as the university's official records note, this is her second time receiving the distinction (第2次獲獎).

Back-to-Back Recognition

Prof. Hsieh was first selected in the 2020 academic year as an NTU Chen-Yung Outstanding Scholar (臺大勇源拔萃學者), holding the award from August 2020 to July 2023. The new term makes the recognition essentially continuous across her early career at NTU — a sustained institutional endorsement of the E3 group's research at the intersection of energy systems, transportation, and environmental policy. She is one of only a handful of two-time recipients on the university's all-time list, and one of just two Tsung Cho-Chang Outstanding Scholars selected in the 2024 cohort.

About the Program

National Taiwan University established the program in 2019 to elevate its academic standing, and reorganized it in 2024 into two tracks: Chair Professorships (拔萃講座) for the most distinguished senior scholars, capped at six per academic year, and Outstanding Scholars (拔萃學者), capped at twelve per year, each awarded for up to three years. The awards are endowed by philanthropic partners of the university — including the Fubon, Chen-Yung, and Tsung Cho-Chang educational foundations — linking private support to the university's mission of nurturing research excellence.

The honor arrived in a banner year for Prof. Hsieh, alongside her promotion to Associate Professor and the Outstanding Young Transportation Professional Award from the Chinese Institute of Transportation.
