Featured on Focus News (焦點時報): NTU E3 Center Kicks off Wind-to-Hydrogen Project with MIRDC

We are proud to share that the NTU E3 Center was recently featured in Focus News (焦點時報) for our pioneering work in Taiwan’s green energy landscape. Following our success in the Ørsted Sustainability Innovation Accelerator, the E3 Center has formally kick-off our latest technical project: "綠氫前端風能預測核心技術之建置:短期與超短期風力發電預測模型研製" (Establishment of Core Wind Power Forecasting Technology for Green Hydrogen Front-end: Development of Short-term and Ultra-short-term Wind Power Forecasting Models) in collaboration with the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC).

Project Focus: Advancing Green Hydrogen Intelligence

Led by Associate Professor Lisa Hsieh, this project marks a pivotal shift from the competition phase to active technical implementation. By bridging the gap between academic research and industrial application in the offshore wind sector, we are focusing on:

  • Ultra-Short-Term Forecasting: Developing high-precision wind power prediction models to stabilize the energy supply required for efficient green hydrogen production.
  • Deep Learning Integration: Leveraging multi-model AI architectures to enhance the accuracy of renewable energy outputs under volatile weather conditions.
  • Industrial Validation: Working closely with MIRDC to ensure these models are robust enough for real-world industrial frameworks, supporting Taiwan’s 2050 Net-Zero goals.

A Synergy of Expertise

The project integrates Ørsted’s global operational insights, MIRDC’s technical validation expertise, and the E3 Center’s strength in data-driven optimization. We would like to recognize team members Jun-Wei (Gary) Ding and Chih-Ya Cheng for their dedicated work in launching these advanced models.

Looking Ahead

With the project now officially underway and recognized by Focus News (焦點時報), we look forward to the validation phase and sharing more updates on how these AI-driven systems will drive the intelligence and resilience required for a sustainable energy transition.
